Kinara

The kinara is symbolic of the continental Africans, our parent people, In incorporating this symbol Dr. Kanrenga used a Zulu concept. In early Kwanzaa celebrations, the kinara was used to symbolize Nkulunkulu, the first born, the father of both our people and our principles. Since the early days of Kwanzaa, the kinara has come to symbolize our ancestors as a collective whole.
