Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Walker Ryans will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at Good Shepherd Baptist Church. The Reverend Dr. Victor Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Ryans was born in Stillmore, Ga. on September 30, 1940 to the late Daniel and Fannie (Philyaw) Walker and departed this life on Friday, November 17, 2006. She received her education through the Richmond County School System and was a 1958 graduate of Lucy C.Laney High School. She furthered her education and received her LPN diploma from University Hospital School of Practical Nursing, August 31, 1962. Mrs. Ryans was baptized at an early age at Magnolia Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend W.W. Jones and served as the Sunday School Pianist. She later moved her membership to Greater Mt. Canaan Missionary Baptist Church, where Louise faithfully participated in the following ministries: Sunday SchoolTeacher, Missionary President, Children Youth Department, Burn Unit Ministry, Church and State Level Christian Education, supported the Haitian Outreach Ministry and Christian People Helping People Volunteer Ministry. Mrs. Ryans was a member of the Tenth District LPN Association and was named 2004 Nurse of the Year. She was a charter member of the Georgia Licensed Practical Nurses Association, Inc. and a lifetime member of the National Association for Practical Nursed Education and Service, Inc. (NAPNES). She has been a member of the state association since April 1964 and has served as president, vice president and on the Parliamentary Committee. Mrs. Ryans had an extensive career in nursing for over 40 years and has served as team leader, floor nurse and charge nurse. She has worked as a recovery room nurse, on a general and thoracic unit, general surgery unit. Her last position was in a dialysis unit for 18 years. She retired from Medical College of Georgia in 1997. Mrs. Ryans exemplified the true meaning of being a true Christian by her worked and deeds as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, niece, faithful church worker and friend.
